Between Zoom lunch dates, virtual workplaces, and Netflix party nights, it’s become more clear than ever that we rely on digital algorithms. But how many of us actually know what algorithms are, and just what they do for us and to us?
‘The Algorithmic You’ initiative aims to de-mystify the seemingly invisible impacts of algorithms on our lives. We aim to do this in three ways: 1) by posting educational content on this Instagram page, 2) through our blog series (link in bio), where we will break down and explain major issues (i.e. COVID-19 and algorithms in the healthcare system), and 3) our website toolkit (launching this August), an interactive platform to help us understand what algorithms are, and exactly how they impact us.
We look forward to building this community and getting to know all of you better as well!
