We’ve put together a collection of books exploring anti-Black racism and Black experiences in technology. Over the next month, as we make our way through these books, we’ll be posting summaries and key quotes from each book to this page — we hope you’ll join us!
We have prioritized books written by Black authors, covering topics ranging from oppressive policing algorithms, to Black Twitter, to speculative Afro-Futurist fiction. We aim to better understand how technology reflects structural anti-black racism, and how we can better actively resist and fight back. We acknowledge the responsibility that falls on us, as non-Black allies, to seek this knowledge and educate ourselves, and we are grateful to the Black writers that make this possible.
